Trion SUES Palladium!

For my money, this is an awful lot like stealing someone's car, repainting it, then suing the original owner.

Palladium News
Many of you have heard, but I'm willing to bet that most of you haven't heard about Palladium Books' lawsuit against Trion World's MMO Rift: Planes of Telara. Palladium filed against Trion in an effort to protect their clearly infringed-upon Rifts trademark, especially since they've been trying to get an MMO launched f...or the past several years. Trion responded today, the day before their date with the judge. Read about it here: http://www.livingdice.com/4490/trion-worlds-responds-to-the-palladium-books-rift-lawsuit-comes-out-swinging/
RIP Frank Frazetta
I was aware of Frank Frazetta's work long before I knew who he was. I'd sit and stare at a print of "the Death Dealer" and time would just stop. I was in awe of the craft and design that went into the piece, and the impression that it left. You thought about the painting secondary to the subject, which is ideal for any illustrator. The subject almost always left you with an emotional impression...you knew what his subjects were feeling. He captured the fantastical in much the same way a skilled photographer captures a moment in time. Frazetta was as inspirational to so many contemporary illustrators, and will be sorely missed.

One problem I see with a lot of this isn't just the lawsuit itself, but the fact that while it's ongoing, Palladium stalls on putting product out because Kevin's attention now has to focus on this instead of on new books. This in turn might cause sales to slip and then the great year they've had so far starts to falter.
That's lost revenue for Palladium and even if they win the case, they still lose.
To me, Trion is making more out of this than it has to (Canceling the trademark? Seriously, a little much and also uncalled for or am I wrong?) and Palladium has more of a case than they I think. I just hope Palladium can ride this out and some of the other projects Kevin's hinted at or suggested in his updates come to pass. They'll need the extra publicity and help.
